This photo series was inspired by Francesca Woodman's "On Being An Angel" series, its namesake. I felt such a deep connection to her and the wording itself; I understood her and why she did it. I wanted to use an angelic figure to explore a broken, decaying place. Like Francesca, girls are a sacred, soft thing in a hard dark world. I wanted to make sure the word "angel" came to mind when seeing the model, so I made sure her elbows were bent at certain points and that she always contrasted with the background. Summer 2016.
